They spent the night in a cheap hotel on 8th Street, one that didn’t require credit cards and asked few questions. The room was thirty-five dollars a night and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. Half the channels on the television didn’t work, the faucet in the bathroom dripped, and the air conditioner wouldn’t stop running no matter how cold the room temperature dropped.
