From Joe's writing

Brody Huffman was a former marine who had served in Vietnam and was haunted by at least as many ghosts as Ruskin himself had been before his life changed this past year. Huffman had arrived in Carthage a lost soul, homeless, and had been moving from town to town for years. Ruskin saw something in the man, a rare loyalty, per-haps, and decided to hire him to help with turning the old Morgan Oil restaurant into Ruskin’s Pizzeria.
