She thanked the woman and hung up. This brought them full circle, didn’t it? From hospital room to hospital room, a thousand miles and a half-century apart. She’d told the emergency room nurse that she wanted to stay in the room with him. They’d resisted at first but relented when she mentioned that they were visiting from out of town and she had no place else to go.
